Now entering its fifth year, the Stifel Edwardsville Rotary Criterium is a series of high-speed bicycle races, free kids races, live bands, and an open containers perimeter, all on the streets of Downtown, Edwardsville, Illinois.
Event held rain or shine. Helmets must be worn at all times while on the bike.
Taking place this year on Saturday, August 16, 2014, this unique signature event has been hosted by the Edwardsville Rotary Club since 2010 as a fund-raiser for community enhancing projects and as a gift to the people in the Edwardsville area. Because Edwardsville is a bicycling city that loves big events and opportunities to show off our Downtown, the Criterium is a perfect fit.
SANCTIONING: is sanctioned by the USA Cycling Association and the Missouri Bicycle Racing Association (MOBRA).
NEW THIS YEAR: Cyclists in the E'ville Crit can earn points for the "Graffiti Road Racing Series" and "Yellow Brick Road Racing Series." Also new this year, participants can stay Saturday night and race in the Belleville Criterium the following day on Sunday, August 17, 2014, just 30 minutes south in Belleville, Illinois.
For more information contact Race Director SJ Morrison at 618-558-3062 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
PAYOUTS: The Stifel Edwardsville Rotary Criterium (E'ville Crit) offers $10,000 in payouts. One of the largest one-day payouts for a bike race in the region.
We’re hosting four FREE kids races, which begin at 6:45 p.m. Registration for the kids races is from 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at the Race Headquarters Registration tent in the Big Daddy’s parking lot. The categories are: Ages 3 & Under / Ages 4 – 6 / Ages 7 – 8 / Ages 9 – 10. Helmets are required and must be worn at all times during the race.
The Starting Line for the Criterium is mid-block on Main Street almost directly across from the Flanigan Law Office. Riders will travel south on Main, make a sharp turn onto Vandalia for a 300 yard straightaway on Vandalia, then enter “Ninian’s Narrows” where the course narrows for 80 feet in front of the statue for Edwardsville’s namesake, Ninian Edwards. Cyclists will then make a series of quick turns, first a left on Benton, a right on Ramey, a right on Coventry and then a right on St. Louis Street. From St. Louis the route veers at a 45 degree angle onto a 268-yard straightaway. With the Madison County courthouse on the left, cyclists will make the final turn back onto Main Street for a 90-yard sprint to the Finish Line.
